I want to live in a society where the currency of exchange is gratitude and the infinitely renewable resource of kindness, which multiplies every time it is shared rather than depreciating with use.

About the Library

The Geneseo Friend Library is a shared lending library for a small group of friends. Instead of buying something you'll use once or renting from a hardware store, check here first — someone in the group probably has it and is happy to share.

The library is built on trust and generosity. Items are lent freely, skills are offered kindly, and free stuff is yours to keep. Add what you have, borrow what you need.

How it works

This library runs on good faith. Here's how we keep it working well for everyone.

1
Return things promptly
If you borrow something, bring it back within a reasonable time — don't let it sit in your garage for six months.
2
Return things in the condition you got them
Clean it, dry it, put it back together. Don't return the pasta maker caked in flour.
3
If you break it, you replace it
Accidents happen — but the owner shouldn't be out of pocket. Offer to replace or repair before they have to ask.
4
Ask before you re-lend
It's not yours to lend to someone else without checking with the owner first.
5
Be communicative
If something comes up and you need to keep it longer, just send a text. A heads-up goes a long way.
6
Keep it in the group
Don't share the link or passcode with people outside the friend group without checking with everyone first.
